It’s VIRGINIA WINE MONTH celebrate with a A Rosé for All Seasons
King Family Vineyards Crosé Rosé wine, Monticello, VA. - A fresh crisp Merlot-based rosé with notes of tangy jawbreaker watermelon, lime and bitter cherry. Medium bodied and smooth it finishes with zesty acidity. One for our favorite roses and it would be great idea to save a bottle for Thanksgiving!

OCTOBER SPECIAL OFFERS
2 from the Cellar and 2 unabashed California reds!
Here is a delicious 22 year old Rioja with a recent review!
2000 Bodegas Urbina Seleccion Rioja DOCa, Spain- “Bright garnet. Dried cherry, candied rose, smoked meat, tobacco and a hint of fruitcake on the nose. Smooth and pliant in the mouth, offering appealingly sweet cherry pie, red currant and vanilla flavors that sow no rough edges. Fully mature but still delivers food energy. The very long, smoky finish echoes the tobacco and vanilla notes. “(Vinous 4/21)
Regular price $33.99 / On Sale in October: $25.99
Mature, single vineyard old school California Merlot at 12.5% ABV!
2009 Old World Winery Mounts Bench vineyard Merlot, Dry Creek, California - Old World Winery is a small, family owned winery and farm. Organic, Biodynamic, Dry Farmed, Hand Picked, Foot Stomped, and All Natural, it is true to its name. This delicious single vineyard old vine Merlot is full bodied and supple with notes of Vanilla and black currant. It finishes with nice acidity and the relaxed tannins you expect in a perfectly aged wine. Regular price $25.99 / On Sale in October: $21.99
Unabashed California reds! (Perfect for Halloween!)
2019 Leviathan Red Wine California, USA – “The 2019 Leviathan is a fabulous wine from Andy Erickson (Screaming Eagle). Powerful and flamboyant, but somehow not overdone, the 2019 is packed with inky dark red fruit. Blood orange, spice and floral accents add just enough lift to keep things balanced. I very much like the energy here.” (Vinous, Antonio Galloni 9/21) Regular price $46.99 / On Sale in October: $28.99
2018 Trefethen Family Vineyards Dragon’s Tooth, Oak Knoll District, USA – (49% Malbec, 27% Petit Verdot and 24% Cabernet Sauvignon) The 2018 Red Blend Dragon’s Tooth is a Delicious Malbec based blend. Pliant, Juicy and super expressive, the 2018 has so much to offer. Ripe red cherry, mocha and spice all open up in a mid-weight, succulent wine loaded with character. Drink it over the next handful of years.” (Vinous Antonio Galloni 1/21). Regular price $69.99 / On Sale in October: $36.99
OCTOBER SPECIAL OFFER - 2018 G.D. Vajra Albe Barolo DOCG, Italy
With Francesca visiting this month it is the perfect time to offer their quite drinkable entry level Barolo at a special price! Here is a review from The Wine Advocate: “This wine consistently delivers one of the greatest values to be found in Italian wine. The G.D. Vajra 2018 Barolo Albe has all its cards in play as an immediately enjoyable and extremely food-friendly Nebbiolo. This really is the top of the category in that sense. With straightforward winemaking (fermentation is in steel and aging in large Slavonian oak casks), the wine offers bold cherry, wild plum and plenty of fragrant blue flower and violet. This vintage has the added benefit of softly textured richness.” (WA 8/22) Regular price $47.99 / On Sale in October: $34.99
NEW ARRIVALS
It’s Oyster time and this is one of our favorite Oyster wines. Organic since 1972, Biodynamics since 1998!
2020 Domaine de l’Ecu Muscadet Sevre-et-Maine Sur Lie ‘Granite’ - “Aged on the big lees in concrete cisterns until March this year, the 2020 Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Granite offers ripe and aromatic fruit with beautifully fine and refreshing granite notes. Round and intense on the palate, this is a mouth-filling, refined and elegant, singular salty and grippy Musca(det) with delicate bitters on the yeasty finish. This is an excellent Musca(det). 12% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at ProWein in Düsseldorf in May 2022.” $23.99
1999 Domaine Borgeot Les Embrazees Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru, France- From a warm year with good yields this wine holds remarkable freshness for its age. Muted tertiary notes of tropical fruits and herbs with good acidity on the finish. A chance to delve into 1er cru burgundy for a very reasonable price. $84.99
2017 Heitz Cellar Grignolino, Napa Valley, USA. - Joe Heitz, a former pilot in the U. S. Air Force started making wine at his then-quite-humble estate in 1961. When he purchased his property, he discovered some existing vines on his property that Italian immigrants had likely brought over with them from the Old Country. While Heitz Cellar became famous for top-flight Cabernet Sauvignon, fortunately it has resisted the urge to pull up the Grignolino vines. It is a medium-bodied red with an idiosyncratic nose that recalls plums and citron. It pairs great with red sauce pasta. $29.99
