Serving the Richmond, Virginia community from our location at Libbie and Grove Avenues since 1985, J. Emerson is the area’s longest-established fine wine retailer often considered the best wine store in the area. Since we started, the wine world has grown and changed considerably, but our commitment to offering a well-considered and in-depth selection of wines to our customers has remained constant. As trends and tastes have shifted through the years, our approach hasn’t appreciably changed.
At our core, we are a neighborhood store with a wide selection of value-priced, everyday wines, often at prices at or below that of local big-box and grocery retailers. At the same time, though, we are a destination store for the Richmond area, offering a number of collectible, rare, and highly-allocated bottlings with a particular emphasis on France, Italy, Spain, Germany and California. We go to great lengths to ensure that our inventory is kept in the best possible condition, maintaining a constant temperature of 63 degrees Fahrenheit with controlled humidity, and storing our bottles on their sides to keep the corks in good shape.

- Extensive selection of cut-to-order artesanal cheeses
- Consultation for weddings, parties and special events (large and small)
- Case sales from our large inventory backstock

We offer a 15% discount on full cases of wine,
and a 10% discount on mixed cases.
